Rooting Dhamma in Cuba
The Buddha's teachings, known as Dhamma, have journeyed across cultures and continents, transforming hearts and communities for over two millennia. Now, these timeless teachings have arrived in Cuba, where they are embraced by a vibrant and growing community.
Our project, led by Ayya Mārajinā, a Cuban-American Buddhist nun based near Jacksonville, Florida, is dedicated to nurturing and supporting this emerging community. We provide a central hub of information about local events, teachings, and retreats for practitioners across Cuba, while also serving as a bridge for international friends eager to learn and support the growth of Buddhism on the island.
Currently, our primary goal is securing a permanent home that will serve as a stable gathering place for the community, facilitating longer stays for Ayya and her monastic brothers and sisters, deeper practice, regular gatherings, and organizational meetings.
We believe the Dhamma thrives best through connection, generosity, and mutual support. Whether you're in Cuba or abroad, your involvement and contributions help sustain and strengthen this spiritual community. Together, we're fostering a space where compassion, wisdom, and spiritual friendship flourish.
Join us on this inspiring journey as the Dhamma continues its path, now rooting in Cuban soil.
